The G6 combines amp and effect modelling with a built-in expression/volume pedal and six stomp switches. Patches are built on a 4.3-inch touchscreen by dragging and dropping effects into a chain of up to seven effects plus amp, or nine effects without an amp. There is room for 240 patches, and the unit includes 70 factory impulse responses for cabinet simulation with space for more than 100 user IRs loaded from an SD card.
Four play modes change the touchscreen and footswitch layout: Looper, Memory, Bank/Patch and Effect Board. The looper records up to 2 hours per loop with an SD/SDXC card (45 seconds without one) and can store up to 256 loop files. 68 onboard rhythm patterns are available for practice. Newer distortion and modulation effects and several original Zoom amp models are included, and Guitar Lab has received further effects through updates.
The G6 has a mono input, stereo outputs with volume control, a mono FX loop, aux in, control input for an external expression pedal and a headphone output. A Micro-B USB port lets it work as a 2-in/2-out audio interface for Mac and PC and connects it to Guitar Lab software for patch management. The optional BTA-1 adapter adds Bluetooth control from the Handy Guitar Lab app.
