WA-MPX
Single-channel, all-tube microphone preamp modelled on the 351-style preamps of the tape era. It is aimed at studios and home recordists who want a vintage tube sound for vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, and mixing.

The WA-MPX is a single-channel tube mic preamp that reproduces the 351-style circuits used in tape-era recording. Each channel is handwired and uses custom CineMag transformers with three tubes. With the high-gain switch engaged, gain reaches 90 dB, which suits low-output dynamic and ribbon microphones. The sound runs from clean with high headroom to heavily saturated.
A tone control changes the input transformer impedance from 600 Ω to 150 Ω to add air or sheen to the top end, which helps with ribbon and darker microphones. A Tape Saturation control switches in a discrete circuit that filters the signal to emulate a tape machine running at 15 IPS, useful on mix and mastering material. A switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter removes low-frequency noise at the source, and a 2 kHz low-pass filter trims upper mids and harsh highs for a lo-fi character.
A dual-channel version, the WA-2MPX, is also offered. The EQP-WA tube program equalizer is suggested as a companion unit.
