The 4-710d combines four 710 Twin-Finity mic/line preamps in a two-space rack unit. Each channel has a Class-A tube path and a transimpedance solid-state path, and a blend control sets the mix between the two, from fully tube to fully solid-state. Every channel also has a true-bypass 1176-style compressor with fast and slow settings, a JFET direct input, a 75 Hz low cut filter, a polarity switch and 48V phantom power.
Large backlit VU meters show input drive, gain level and gain reduction. Each channel has a balanced send/return insert that is half-normalled, and the output stage is monolithic and balanced.
The unit includes eight channels of 24-bit A/D conversion at selectable sample rates up to 192 kHz. Digital output is through dual ADAT optical ports or an AES/EBU DB-25 connector, so it can add eight inputs to an Apollo interface or connect to other interfaces. A 75Ω BNC word clock input/output, an eight-channel switchable soft limiter and an LED metering array with clip/hold indicators are fitted. The power supply is universal-voltage and internal.
