A pedalboard-format guitar amp simulator that also works as a direct box. It offers three amp voicings and is aimed at guitarists who want to feed a PA, record silently, or play without bringing an amp.

The JDX Direct-Drive models the sound of a guitar amplifier and doubles as a DI box, so a pedalboard can go straight to the PA or monitors without an amp on stage. It offers three voicings: the JDX tone, which simulates a dynamic microphone on a 4x12 cabinet, a setting similar to a British tube head, and a setting modelled on a clean twin combo amp.
It can be used in several ways: as the only amp in the signal chain, at the end of a pedalboard to feed an amp and the PA at the same time so the engineer can blend the two, or for silent recording straight from the pedalboard. A thru output passes the signal on unaffected, and a polarity switch is built in. A ¼" output can feed an effects processor.
The design is all-analog and is based on Radial's JDX 48 amplifier direct box. It is made to sit alongside other pedals on a board and suits fly dates, studio sessions and backup use when an amp fails.
