The JDX 500 is a module for the 500-series format that captures the tone of a guitar amplifier and its speaker cabinet without a microphone in front of the cabinet. It is meant for both electric guitar and bass and is intended to give a repeatable tone from one session to the next.
It can be used in three ways. For direct recording, a guitar is run through pedals into the module, which applies a multistage filter, so no amp or microphone needs to be set up. With an amplifier, its Reactor section takes the signal from the amp head together with the back impulse from the speaker cabinet. It can also be blended with a microphone placed in the room, so the direct signal is mixed with the miked sound, or paired with a Phazer.
The product is listed as discontinued and no longer shipping; the maker keeps the user guide and a smart sheet available for owners.
