The Cube is a three-slot desktop power rack for 500 series modules. It is built around a 14 gauge steel frame and uses dual gold contact EDAC 15-pin connectors in each slot. It is backwards compatible with older API modules and tuned for Radial's own preamps, processors and routing devices.
An external supply provides 500mA of shared current, and a separate 48V phantom tap supplies 10mA for microphone preamps. Instead of a hardwired patch system, a feed function links modules in series without a cable. Stereo modules can be paired with a switch rather than by soldering. Each slot also has an Omniport TRS jack, which lets a module maker add a module-specific function such as a key input on a gate.
The rear panel has an XLR connector for each slot, plus 1/4" TRS connectors for cross patching and parallel processing. Optional angles allow the rack to be recessed into a table top. Typical uses include building a channel strip from a preamp, EQ and compressor, a guitar and bass front end, and a reamping chain.
