The IB2S XBD-A is a self-powered main monitor system made up of a three-way speaker and a separate XBD (extended bass) cabinet. The main section uses a 34mm soft dome tweeter, a 75mm soft dome midrange and a 250mm carbon fibre/Nomex piston bass driver, while the XBD cabinet adds a further 250mm driver of the same type. Bass is handled by PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) loading rather than a ported or sealed box, with an effective ATL length of 4m.
Each driver has its own amplifier: 200W for the tweeter, 200W for the midrange, 565W for the bass driver and 656W for the XBD bass driver. Crossover points are at 380Hz and 3.8kHz, and the stated frequency response is 20Hz to 25kHz.
Connections are balanced analogue main and LFE inputs with through outputs, plus AES3 digital main and LFE inputs with through outputs, accepting 192kHz/24-bit. Analogue input sensitivity can be set between +4dBu and +20dBu. The system stands on a plinth and weighs 93kg.
