Tufton is a portable stereo speaker built around a 3-way design: three drivers face forward and an extra mid-range driver sits on the rear. Marshall's True Stereophonic system spreads the sound in multiple directions, aimed at giving an even 360° sound field. Four Class D amplifiers cover the woofer, two full-range drivers and the tweeters, and the cabinet is bass-reflex.
Battery life is rated at 20+ hours, and a visual battery indicator on the top panel shows the charge level. The top panel also carries a Bluetooth button, a combined power/volume knob and separate bass and treble knobs, so tone can be adjusted on the speaker itself. The enclosure has a solid metal grille, flush-mounted corner caps, an IPX2 water-resistance rating and a guitar-style carrying strap.
It connects wirelessly over Bluetooth 5.0 with a range of about 10 m and supports aptX, or by wire through a 3.5 mm input. It has no Wi-Fi, microphone or voice control, does not use a Marshall app and cannot be paired with other Marshall speakers.
