Kilburn III is a portable active stereo loudspeaker with a bass reflex cabinet. It uses one 4-inch woofer and two 2-inch full-range drivers, powered by a 30 W Class D amplifier for the woofer and two 10 W Class D amplifiers for the full-range drivers. The frequency range is 45 Hz – 20 kHz with a maximum output of 91 dB SPL at 1 m. The stereo layout is designed to give 360° coverage, and a Dynamic Loudness function adjusts bass, mids and treble as the volume changes.
The speaker runs for more than 50 hours on its rechargeable, replaceable Li-ion battery. Charging uses USB-C PD: about 3 hours for a full charge, or 20 minutes for around 8 hours of playback with a 30 W charger. It can also act as a power bank for a phone. The IP54 rating protects against limited dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. Controls on the top panel cover bass, treble, volume, power, media jog, an M-button for presets and Bluetooth pairing.
Connections are Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint and Auracast, plus a 3.5 mm AUX input. Supported codecs are SBC, LC3 and AAC. The Marshall Bluetooth app is optional, as the speaker also works without it. The unit is available in four colourways.
