The Ci5120QLM-THX is a flush-mounted architectural speaker that fits inside a wall and is certified THX Ultra. It uses a 3-way design with four 120mm long-throw bass drivers, a 100mm Uni-Q midrange and a 19mm vented aluminium dome tweeter. Metamaterial Absorption Technology is applied to the tweeter to absorb unwanted sound from behind the driver. The Uni-Q arrangement acts as a single point source to give wide, even dispersion.
The speaker covers 38Hz to 20kHz, with crossover points at 440Hz and 2.75kHz and a recommended amplifier power of 25 to 250 W. Nominal coverage is 150° and maximum SPL at 1m is 105 dB. It has an IP64 dust and water rating. A paintable magnetic metal grille and an ultra-thin bezel let it blend into the wall.
It is connected to an external amplifier with speaker wire run to the cut-out. A cut-out template is supplied, and a recommended high-pass filter of 35Hz to 100Hz is given for the system. The speaker mounts in walls 6 to 36 mm thick and needs a rear volume of 35 (minimum) to 70 (ideal).
