JBL 705P
The JBL 705P is a compact self-powered studio monitor with a 5-inch low-frequency driver and a compression high-frequency driver behind a waveguide. It is aimed at music recording, film post and broadcast work in rooms where space is limited.

The 705P is a two-way, bi-amplified reference monitor built around a 2409H high-frequency compression driver and a 725G low-frequency transducer. Each driver has its own 250 W amplifier. The crossover sits at 1.9 kHz, and the stated frequency range is 39 Hz to 36 kHz. JBL's Image Control Waveguide joins the two drivers and is meant to give a wide sweet spot and consistent on- and off-axis response.
The cabinet is reinforced birch plywood and compact, with mounting points on the top, bottom and rear (a 2-hole pattern). Room EQ controls let the user compensate for the effects of the room's acoustics. The monitor is described as delivering considerably more output than comparably sized studio monitors, which allows longer listening distances.
Connections are one balanced XLR analog input and one XLR AES3 digital input with an XLR pass-through output. The digital input accepts sample rates up to 192 kHz, and internal sample rate converters can be enabled for signals with uncommon rates.
