The MG250 is a stereo desktop speaker system with two 2-inch full-range drivers, rated at 2.5W per channel. Each channel has its own separate cavity to reduce interference between left and right, and DSP tuning is used to give a frequency response of 80Hz to 19kHz. The enclosure is tilted slightly upward to aim sound toward the listener at near-field distances, and the grille is styled after automotive air intakes.
A suspended RGB light strip runs along the front. Its colours and effects can be changed in the Edifier Connect app, which offers about 16.8 million colours and three preset sound modes for gaming, movies and music. The strip also reflects the speaker's current status. Controls are handled by a touch panel on the top surface, and an embedded MEMS microphone with noise cancellation handles calls.
The speaker connects over Bluetooth 5.3 or through a USB-A connector, which also acts as a built-in sound card for plug-and-play use with a computer. Mac users need to select the speaker manually as the output device in the sound settings.
