TD 124 DD

The TD 124 DD keeps the purist look and core construction of the original TD 124, but replaces the idler wheel and belt drive with a high-precision direct drive motor. The drive provides strong torque and precise speed control, and keeps drive vibrations away from the platter. The height-adjustable aluminium chassis rests on vibration-damping rubber elements.

The new TP 124 tonearm can be adjusted in all parameters to suit the chosen cartridge. It has an anti-skating mechanism with a ruby bearing and a patented electric tonearm lift for gentle cueing. A removable headshell with an SME connector is supplied, and the deck is prepared for SPU cartridges. A slightly heavier extra counterweight is included for the separately available Thorens SPU TD 124 cartridge, developed together with Ortofon.

Power comes from an external power supply, which keeps the delivery of power free of interference. Signal output is available on both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR connectors, so the turntable can feed a high-end system with a suitably equipped phono preamplifier.
