HS-P82
The HS-P82 is a mixer-integrated 8-channel field recorder with 8+2-track recording to CompactFlash cards, built in an all-metal body. It is aimed at location sound work for film, drama and broadcast, and has been discontinued.

The HS-P82 combines an eight-channel mixer with a multitrack recorder that writes BWF files to CompactFlash media. It records eight tracks at up to 96 kHz and four tracks at 176.4/192 kHz, in 16 or 24 bit. Two cards can be used at once for mirror recording, and each track can be saved as its own mono file or all tracks as one polyphonic file. Time-code and time-stamp data can be written into the files, and files are saved about every 20 seconds as protection against power loss.
Eight XLR inputs with phantom-power-capable mic preamps cover mic, mic -25 dB and line levels. Each channel offers phase inversion, a limiter and a low-cut filter at 40, 80 or 120 Hz. A pre-record buffer, marks, retake, a slate mic and a test-tone oscillator support day-to-day shooting work. A 3.5-inch tilting colour touchscreen handles operation, and a PS/2 keyboard can be used to name projects, scenes and channels.
For connectivity, the unit has eight channels of AES/EBU digital I/O on a 25-pin D-sub, analog and BNC stereo mix outputs, SMPTE time-code in and out, word clock, video reference input and USB 2.0 file transfer. Power can come from 10 AA batteries, an NP-type battery, an external DC source or the supplied AC adapter. The optional RC-F82 remote controller adds eight faders, pan knobs and talkback.
