The SRH1840 is an open-back, circumaural headphone built around 40 mm neodymium drivers that are individually matched. The open design is aimed at a natural sound, a wide stereo image and greater depth of field, with extended highs and accurate bass. Each unit is tested and serialized, and the headphones are optimized for use with external headphone amplification.
The driver sits in a steel frame with a vented center pole piece, which is intended to improve linearity and remove internal resonance so that performance stays consistent at different listening levels. The yoke is aircraft-grade aluminum alloy and the grilles are stainless steel. A dual-frame padded headband is fully adjustable, and the velour ear pads use high-density, slow-recovery foam and can be replaced.
The dual-exit cables connect with gold-plated MMCX connectors, so they can be detached for storage or swapped out. Two cables are included along with a threaded 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) gold-plated adapter, a spare set of velour ear pads and a zippered hard travel case. A two-year limited warranty applies.
