The set pairs a two-channel EW-DX EM 2 rack receiver with an EW-DX SKM-S handheld transmitter (fitted with an MMD 835 dynamic cardioid capsule) and an EW-DX SK bodypack transmitter with an MKE 2 omni-directional lavalier. Two BA 70 rechargeable battery packs are supplied, giving up to 12 hours of operation.
Audio is carried by the Sennheiser Performance Audio Codec, which gives a 134 dB input dynamic range, so transmitter gain does not need to be set, and a latency of 1.9 ms. Transmission can be protected with AES 256 encryption. An AutoScan function scans the environment and assigns frequencies with equidistant spacing: 600 kHz spacing for up to 146 channels in Standard Mode, or 300 kHz spacing for up to 293 channels in Link Density Mode. Switching bandwidth is up to 88 MHz. This Q1-9 version covers 470.2 to 550 MHz.
The receiver is network enabled and can be controlled with Sennheiser Control Cockpit, Wireless System Manager or third-party control systems through plug-ins. Bluetooth Low Energy remote control with the Smart Assist app is listed for ranges up to 25 meters. The transmitters have charging contacts for in-device charging with the optional CHG 70N charger and use the Sennheiser standard capsule interface. A persistent E-Ink display keeps settings visible even with the batteries removed.
