SG MIC

The SG MIC is a condenser shotgun microphone with a highly directional supercardioid pattern and a smooth off-axis response. It is built to reject side noise and pick up a speaker at close to medium range. The page gives an ideal working distance of 0.3 to 0.8 m for dialogue. Its 15 mm large-diaphragm capsule also handles loud sources such as acoustic guitar and drums.

The body is made of brass, which gives it durability and resistance to RF interference. It is specified for use from -20 °C to 50 °C and in 20–90% humidity. Lab tests are said to show it surviving 1.5 m drops. A shock mount is recommended. It is an updated version of the SoundBird V6, with higher max SPL, a wider temperature range, better signal-to-noise ratio and a lower output impedance.

It connects through an XLR connector and needs 48 V phantom power. It can be plugged directly into professional camcorders, field recorders, mixers and interfaces with XLR inputs. Consumer DSLR and mirrorless cameras need an XLR-to-3.5 mm adapter that supplies phantom power. A foam windscreen, shock mount and XLR cable are included.
