The KF-20 is a home digital piano built with Karimoku, a Japanese furniture maker. Its cabinet has soft, rounded edges produced with the Hikimono wood-shaping technique and is hand-assembled. It comes in Pure Oak, Walnut, Sheer White and Celadon Green. Solid wood is used for the exterior, with manufactured wood where the cabinet meets electronics or mechanical parts, to limit warping.
Sound comes from Piano Reality Modeling with unlimited polyphony for solo grand piano playing. The PHA-50 hybrid keyboard has 88 hammer-action keys with escapement, ebony/ivory feel and high-precision sensing. Six tones are selectable from the piano and 54 through the Roland Piano App. A three-pedal unit, a four-speaker system with 24 W x 2 output and a fixed-height bench are included.
It connects through Bluetooth 5.0 for audio and MIDI, USB Type-C for computers and mobile devices, and a USB A port for flash drives. Two headphone jacks (1/4-inch and miniature) are fitted. The Roland Piano App controls piano functions, temperament and Piano Designer settings, and offers lessons.
