The E-X50 combines acoustic piano sounds taken from Roland home and stage pianos with a wide set of other tones: electric pianos, organs, guitars, basses, orchestral instruments, synths and regional sounds. Polyphony is 256 voices across 16 parts, with 433 tones plus 256 GM2 tones.
The auto-accompaniment section offers 300 preset styles and 30 user slots, which can be filled using the Style Converter software for macOS and Windows. Auto Bass Chord mode lets beginners drive arrangements with one or two fingers, while Whole mode gives advanced players full left-hand chord control. Each style has four One Touch settings, and registrations are stored in 8 banks of 4 memories. A recorder captures performances as Standard MIDI Files, and 12 audio pads can play MP3 or WAV files from a USB flash drive.
The built-in speaker system has separate woofers and tweeters with a bass-reflex port. Bluetooth 5.0 audio streams music from a phone or tablet through the speakers. A mic input with its own effects, stereo line outputs, a headphone jack, a pedal jack and USB ports for computer and flash drive complete the connections.
