The Aethos is a stereo integrated amplifier built in a custom-designed case. Each channel uses four 160 W Sanken output transistors, and the dual mono layout has a custom-wound toroidal transformer plus regulated supplies for the amplification and driver stages. The pre-amplifier stage is discrete class-A circuitry, with a FET-based line amplifier, polypropylene capacitors in the signal path and K-Power reservoir capacitors.
For system flexibility it has five line inputs, a switchable direct input, a record output and a pre-amp output, so it can be used as a full integrated amp or alongside other power amplification. The headphone socket is integrated so that speaker switching is handled by the output mute relay, which keeps it out of the signal path. A remote control is included in the feature set.
The amplifier needs to reach an optimum temperature for its bias current to stabilise, so it has no power management function and is intended to be left on. It is designed and assembled in the UK and covered by a lifetime limited warranty against manufacturing defects.
