The DDJ-SZ is a four-channel controller built around Serato DJ Pro. Its large aluminium jog wheels are tuned for scratching, with illuminated cue point markers and an On Jog Display that shows playback position or cue countdown, so the laptop screen needn't be watched constantly.
Performance control comes from backlit multi-colour pads for Quantized Hot Cues, Roll, Slicer and Sampler, with Shift access to Cue and Slicer Loops and a Velocity Mode for sample volume. Sound Color FX offers Pitch, Echo, Jet and Filter effects controlled by a level/depth dial. Other features include Slip mode, a Needle search touch strip and Magvel faders with a contactless magnetic system and two metal shafts.
Two USB ports with their own sound cards allow two computers to be connected at once, with a top-mounted A/B switch for switching between them. The unit also works with rekordbox dj (with the rekordbox dvs Plus Pack for scratch control) and Virtual DJ.
