The Pa4X Oriental is an arranger workstation built on the EDS-X sound engine with a large PCM library and room for user samples. It adds Middle Eastern content to the standard Pa4X: more than 190 Oriental styles, over 190 Oriental sounds, 60 Oriental drum kits, plus keyboard sets and pads drawn from Turkish, Persian and Arabic libraries. Fifteen quick-access quarter-tone scale presets and a cancel button are included.
Playing and arranging tools include a 7-inch capacitive touch display, semi-weighted keys with aftertouch, DNC articulation control via switches, joystick and ribbon, a chord sequencer, a MIDI-file-to-style converter, Kaoss remixing of styles and songs, and a SongBook database with set lists. Effects come from 148 types, with Waves MaxxAudio mastering and TC Helicon vocal processing on the mic input. Two MP3/MIDI players handle backing tracks and lyrics.
External controllers connect through USB host ports, and a microSD slot supports storage. The 76-key model has an internal hard drive as standard; on the 61-key model it is optional. An optional PaAS speaker bar connects wirelessly.
