Class A discrete tube microphone preamplifier with a VU meter, an illuminated tube and an external power supply. It is aimed at home and project studios that want to change tube character, with four tubes supplied.

The UFO is a single-channel microphone preamplifier built around a Class A discrete circuit with no ICs. It provides up to 68 dB of gain and has a VU meter and a lit tube window. The tube sits under a transparent cover held by metal springs, so it can be swapped without tools.
Four tubes are supplied. The Electro-Harmonix 6922EH is pre-installed, and a tube pack adds a 12AT7EH and two Sovtek types, the 12AX7LPS and 12AX7WA. Each is described as giving a different tonal character, from neutral to warmer and more saturated. Front-panel switches cover +48 V phantom power, polarity reverse, a -20 dB pad and a mic/instrument selection.
Connections are a balanced XLR input and output plus unbalanced 1/4" (6.35 mm) jack instrument input and output. The power supply is a separate unit with switchable 115 V / 230 V operation and links to the preamp through a cable with a 5-pin mini-XLR connector. External transformers are used to reduce potential interference.
