The ISA 428 MkII is a second-generation four-channel preamp in a 2U chassis. Each channel accepts a mic, line or front-panel instrument source. Mic impedance is selectable, with the classic ISA 110 setting plus three further values, so the preamp can be matched to vintage or modern microphones.
Gain is set with a four-position switch plus continuously variable trim, and there is a variable high-pass filter for controlling low end. Each channel has a 6-segment LED meter, and switchable insert points on the rear panel let external processors such as compressors be placed between the preamp and the output.
Outputs are four line-level XLRs, with 1/4" TRS insert sends alongside. An optional eight-channel A-D converter card, sold separately, adds digital connection to a DAW. Power comes from an IEC mains inlet accepting 100 to 240 V AC.
