Node X is a compact streamer from Bluesound's BluOS range, released as a silver-finish take on the original Node to mark the brand's ten-year anniversary. It uses an ESS Sabre DAC supporting 24-bit/192 kHz audio and a quad-core 1.8 GHz ARM Cortex A53 processor. Playback covers internet radio, streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Spotify, and a personal music library, with DSD support.
The built-in headphone amplifier uses THX AAA technology and a full-size 6.35 mm jack. Top-panel touch controls with presets handle play/pause, track skipping and volume. The unit also takes IR input with remote learning and ships with the Bluesound RC1 remote. It supports Dirac Live room correction, Alexa through the BluVoice skill, Siri, and drivers for Lutron, Elan, RTI and Crestron control systems.
Connectivity includes HDMI eARC, optical, analog and USB inputs, dual-band Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, AirPlay 2 and two-way aptX HD Bluetooth. Wired and wireless headphone and subwoofer outputs are provided. Control is through the BluOS Controller app on iOS, Android, Mac and PC, and a BluOS system can link up to 64 players in 24-bit hi-res audio.
