EWI5000 is an electronic wind controller with its own sound engine. A mouthpiece with an air-pressure sensor and a bite sensor drives volume and pitch expression, and 13 touch-sensitive note keys plus octave rollers cover an eight-octave range. The fingering can be switched between flute, oboe and saxophone modes, and an EVI mode is included for brass players.
Eight dedicated dials adjust Filter, Reverb, Chorus, LFO, Breath Amount, Bite Amount, Semitone Tuning and Fine Tuning while playing. The internal library holds more than 3GB of sounds from SONiVOX, covering orchestral horn, brass and woodwind voices as well as synths, basses and leads. A Sound Editor for Mac and PC, connected by USB, lets you edit instruments with filter, two LFOs, pan, tune and envelopes and store the results on the instrument.
For connections, it offers 2.4GHz low-latency stereo wireless audio with an included receiver, a 1/4-inch output, a 1/8-inch headphone output, USB-MIDI and a 5-pin MIDI output. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery is charged through the supplied USB cable and wall adapter.
